Cars Land executive moves to Walt Disney World

The rumors of Cars Land coming to Walt Disney World have grew even stronger on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 when the creative executive of Cars Land in Disneyland moved to Orlando. Kathy Magnum is now a Florida resident with the assignment of – overseeing all attraction design at Walt Disney World.

Disney announced that Magnum has been appointed as the “executive producer” for Disney World. The Orlando Sentinel let it be known that Magnum is a vice president with Walt Disney Imagineering and has grown even bigger since Cars Land opened in mid-June.

Tuesday’s earnings call from Disney announced that Disneyland set an attendance record during the third quarter thanks largely to Cars Land.

California Adventure is now generating nearly 50 percent of Disneyland’s attendance which is up from 25 percent of recent years.

“We have huge satisfaction and higher spending on merchandise and food and beverage, as well, and we raised our ticket prices,” Iger said on a conference call with analysts. “So it all is very, very good news and bodes well for the future.”

While this does not definitely mean Cars Land – or something similar – will be coming to Disney World; it does strengthen rumors a bit. Many have said that there is a possibility a Cars-themed land could end up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

A spokesman for Disney Imagineering spoke up and said that Magnum is NOT tied to any new projects. Things can change though.

Interesting. Thoughts?
