Huge makeover coming to Epcot’s France Pavilion: To open in mid-December

While it may not happen until after the 2012 Epcot Food & Wine Festival, it’s still going to bring a lot of excitement. The France Pavilion in World Showcase will be getting a huge makeover before being completed in mid-December. The good thing though, is that its still open.

Les Chefs de France and the Boulangerie Patisserie bakery and pastry shop remain open, but when all is said and done…Bistro de Paris will have a new look, new name, and there will even be a new bakery.

Jerome Bocuse, president and owner of the company that runs all three told the Disney Parks Blog about the upcoming changes:

  • New Name
  • New dining room
  • New menu
  • New costumes for servers

Jerome Bocuse: It’s all new – new name, new dining room, new costumes for the servers, new menu. We’re still aiming for haute cuisine, but with a less formal atmosphere. Guests are in the park with their families, so we want to create an elegant, nice ambiance, but not stuffy. Our guests want to experience true French cuisine.

Bocuse says there will be no more tuxedos on the servers and the menu will be the true cuisine of France, “but with an approachable, affordable twist.

Chefs de France will remain the same.

The new bakery will end up in a new building at the back of the pavilion which is under construction. It is located near the theater exit. The menu will be expanded to add salads and sandwiches along with about 90 more seats being put in.

As for the old bakery and pastry shop? It will become the new Glacier ice cream parlor.
