New Mickey Mouse animated shorts coming to television on June 28

Well, Mickey Mouse is returning back to the world of 2-D animated shorts, and they will be hitting the screen on June 28, 2013. 19 new animated shorts will appear on The Disney Channel as well as online on Disney.com and the Watch Disney Channel app.

In a preview on Disney.com, Mickey and Minnie are working at a Paris cafe when they face a shortage of croissants. In the 3-minute, 30-second cartoon, Mickey goes on an adventurous trip through the city to fulfill their orders. The characters in the film speak French and there are no subtitles, although they’re not really necessary to follow the action.

Each animated short will find Mickey in a new setting including Venice, Tokyo, Santa Monica, New York, the Alps, Beijing, and more. He will face off with a “silly situation” that gets played out in “an escalation of physical and visual gags.”

Guest appearances will come about from Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, and Goofy.

Mixed feelings about this new look. It’s like a modernized version of old school Disney cartoons, but really isn’t too bad.

And there was a little tribute to “Magic Journeys” was thrown in there, and that’s awesome.
