Marvel movie news from the D23 Expo: ‘Thor,’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

marvellogoThe D23 Expo rolled continued on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, and it included a presentation from Walt Disney Studios regarding a bunch of live-action films. Of course, that now pertains to the Marvel Universe.

Marvel Studios top Kevin Feige came out and began with “Thor: The Dark World.” The crowd got an extended look at some footage and Feige was joined on stage by Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, and Natalie Portman. Hiddleston did not come in Loki garb.

“I feel like I should apologize for not turning up in costume,” Hiddlestone said. “I’m not going to get this crowd to kneel. This is Disneyland!

Once that was over, it was on to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Feieg was joined on stage by Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, and Anthony Mackey. It was great that Mackey made some jokes and actually played reference to his character of the “Falcon.”

Rough behind-the-scenes footage was shown and then the same Comic-Con footage of “Guardians of the Galaxy” was also shown. There were no cast members from the film in attendance.

For the final part of the Marvel presentation, Feige left and the crowd was treated to a teaser trailer for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.” There was no footage shown, obviously, but a spinning Iron Man mask was featured with hints at other characters.
