Disney confirms changes coming to Magic Kingdom hub

Magic Kingdom hub refurbishmentAs reported here on Doctor Disney the other day; the refurbishment of the hub at Magic Kingdom has now been confirmed by Disney.

A short, new video has been released and it shows the enhancements and changes that will be coming to the Magic Kingdom. The work has already begun with work at Casey’s Corner and The Plaza restaurant, and it is set to be completed sometime in 2015.

By looking at the video, it shows that essentially, a second ring will be developed around the central Main Street USA hub. It will include new pathways, a special viewing area for fireworks and shows, new gardens, and more.

It also seems like castle turrets will be put in at the end of Main Street and right before Cinderella Castle. They appear very similar to the new walls separating old Fantasyland from the expansion.

While this is an artist’s rendering, it is likely very close to what the completed project will be. It also looks like the Rose Garden is still in place.
