Walt Disney World Announces Fifth Park Coming in 2018 – Days of Disney’s Past

Walt Disney WorldWalt Disney World has made a major announcement and it makes retro fans of the lost attractions (such as Doctor Disney himself) almost too excited to even type. Walt Disney World has revealed that a fifth park will be coming to the Orlando area, and it is going to be filled with retro attractions, restaurants, and merchandise and it will be named Days of Disney’s Past.

Shanghai Disneyland is already set to open at the end of 2015, but Days of Disney’s Past is scheduled for an opening in the third quarter of 2018.

Disney said that ground will break early next year opposite Epcot.

The new park will combine “lost” Walt Disney World attractions from the four major theme parks as well as restaurants and merchandise locations.

It was revealed that current and up-to-date Disney merchandise will be sold in the park, but the focus of the merchandise locations will be on retro merchandise such as been showing up more in the Disney Parks lately. Attention was brought to the fact that the old “Walt Disney World” logo has been returned to merchandise recently.

There was not an entire listing of just what will be included in the new Walt Disney World park, but it was said that there will be “the attractions and restaurants from days gone by. Disney is not just about looking forward to the future, but remembering our past. Now, it’s time to give our newest guests – and those that have been around a long time – the chance to experience what made Walt Disney World great in the beginning.”

Some of the confirmed attractions and experiences will be:

  • Horizons – Epcot
  • World of Motion – Epcot
  • Kitchen Kabaret – Epcot
  • Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride – Magic Kingdom
  • 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea – Magic Kingdom
  • Skyway – Magic Kingdom
  • Snow White’s Scary Adventures – Magic Kingdom
  • Penny Arcade – Magic Kingdom
  • The Timekeeper – Magic Kingdom
  • Superstar Television – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • The Hunchback of Notre Dame – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Monster Sound Show – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Tarzan Rocks – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • Donald’s Dairy Barn – Disney Village Marketplace

Plans at this point are not complete and it has been said that there are no plans for a retro resort of some kind to come to Walt Disney World, but options aren’t thrown out just yet.

Some of the older parades could be recycled as well.

Is this an April Fool’s joke? If so, it is BEYOND cruel!!!

  3. Alan Martin says

This one is funny but sooooo cruel! If only it were true…. if only.

  4. I knew it was an April Fool’s as soon as I saw that Adventurer’s Club was missing from the list. 😛

  5. Noah Agrios says

No original Journey Into Imagination with Dreamfinder and Figment??? I know this is an April fools joke but it sure would be nice wouldn’t it?

    • Heather, I have to say that I could not help but smile at this video. It is cute but sad all at the same time. Let me tell you that my intention was never to bring about major disappointment, and simply to play around with everyone.

Going to let you know though…that the reason it was so well written (thank you by the way) and believable is because it is something that I want to come true. For those that follow my page for even a short length of time, well, they realize and learn that I’m a huge fan of Disney gone by and retro Disney. I want all of those things back more than anything, and would give anything if a park like that happens in my lifetime.

I apologize for the sadness, but appreciate the video. 🙂

  15. I totally get the whole April fools thing but you should put something at the bottom instead of having to click on a new link. My friend actually believed you and is now telling everyone!! She is going to be majorly disappointed and angry when she finds out it was a joke. Props on the creativity but this was pretty cruel.

  16. that’s actually not funny and rude. ive gone to Disney every year my whole life and I told my nieces and nephews and other family members and we all got so exited. we talked about it for a long time. I seriously recommend you take this off now. its really not funny, just plain old rude

    • Sorry you found it rude, but it won’t be taken off the site. The date was April 1 and the link at the bottom shows it was an April Fool’s joke all in fun. I’ve been going to Disney my entire life as well and live right behind Magic Kingdom so I’d like this to be true as much as anyone.

  17. OMG I am crying that was sooooo funny
