For those that love heading to Disney’s Polynesian Resort and enjoying a great dinner at ‘Ohana, there is going to be a bit of a change. Having started immediately, the chicken skewers have been removed from the menu and are no more.
A very reliable source revealed to me over the weekend that ‘Ohana was going to remove chicken from the dinner menu immediately, and that it was because of “issues.”
Managers have allegedly said not to ask questions about the situation and to simply know that the menu has changed. Upon looking at the official dinner menu for ‘Ohana, chicken has been removed from the list.
The available skewers are now:
- Sweet-n-Sour Pork Loin
- Szechuan Sirloin Steak
- Spicy Grilled Peel-n-Eat Shrimp
In an odd note, the Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings are still a part of the “Appetizers” menu though so not all chicken has been removed from the menu.
This is not said to be a “temporary situation” and is being looked at as a permanent situation.
UPDATE – Email response from Disney:
“We periodically evaluate our offerings and make changes based on feedback from our Guests. Our goal is to provide new and unique items along with our Guest’s favorites. As you may know, ‘Ohana will continue to offer pork, beef, and shrimp skewers. Chicken skewers will no longer be offered. Instead, chicken wings, a popular favorite will now be offered as an entrée. We’ve also added a new vegetarian appetizer and a child’s dessert.”
Some have speculated that this has to do with the preparation of the chicken skewers at the ‘Ohana dinner feast, but there has been no confirmation as to that. Whatever the case may be, Disney appears to have want to rectify a situation rather quickly.
Upon reaching out to Disney, there was no comment but that “menu items are subject to change.”

This is sad but I’m sure there is a good reason for it. I’m hopeful it is for a health reason and not money/cost related. They took the Hawaiian sausages off the menu a few years ago as well. Never got an answer for why they did that either.
