Disney’s Animal Kingdom sure has a lot going on lately, but one of the biggest pieces of news this year has been that of the new “Rivers of Light” nighttime show that will be coming to the park in future. While concept art has been released, an opening date has not been announced, but one is now being rumored.
Word going around is that “Rivers of Light” could very well begin at Disney’s Animal Kingdom sometime in March 2016.
Please be aware that this has not been announced by Disney and is not confirmed in any way, but the rumor is starting to pick up steam.
The show is going to take place on the waters that are in the center of the park and primarily in front of Expedition Everest. “Rivers of Light” is expected to have some big crowds for its debut and into the future so a lot of work needs to be done.
The walkways and viewing areas are expected to be greatly altered, widened, and reinforced for the crowds that should be viewing the new nighttime show.
“Rivers of Light” is going to take a lot of work to get done so it should come as no surprise that the debut of the nighttime spectacular is still so far away. Disney is looking to bring a lot more people to DAK at night and this could easily do it.
There will be lights, music, special effects and so much more. Some have already compared it to the very popular “World of Color” over in Disney California Adventure, but that remains to be seen.
AVATAR Land is set to open sometime in 2017, and that means there will be consecutive years of huge openings with “Rivers of Light” possibly in 2016.
Again, this is not confirmed by Disney, and things are always subject to change.
