The huge announcement of the closing of The American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios dropped in mid-June, but news has changed now. The attraction will no longer be closing in early 2015, but the end of August 2014.
Yes, that officially means there is just about two weeks left for The American Idol Experience to be taken in by guests.
The final show of the attraction will happen on Aug. 30, 2014.
It was originally reported that after the summer, daily showings of The American Idol Experience would be lessening month-by-month. This was going to end up leading to the eventual permanent closing of the attraction in January of 2015.
Seems that things needed to be put on the fast track.
While there has been no replacement yet announced for the location of The American Idol Experience, there are rumors of what could up there.
A very good source of mine has advised me that the theater could be used to temporarily house another attraction/event of some kind while finalized plans for a new permanent attraction are put in place.
There has been so much speculation as to what could be happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with rumors of Indiana Jones and the Great Movie Ride closing. Disney head Bob Iger has also recently said that guests need to be aware of a”far greater ‘Star Wars’ presence in our parks.”
NO…no no no…this does not mean that “Star Wars Land” is coming as so many other sites have been reporting. It also doesn’t mean a new “Star Wars” attraction is coming. All that Iger said was that the presence would be greater and more news would come in 2015.
Sure, either of those things could happen, but Disney has not even come close to publicly confirming them.
What we do know for now is that The American Idol Experience is indeed going away so get your views in now and while you can.
I honestly think a re-tooling of the Frozen SingAlong will be taking it’s place…
