Disney is keeping the live-action films rolling along, and this one may shock a number of people, but it pleases Doctor Disney. The “Night On Bald Mountain” sequence from Disney’s 1940 animated hit Fantasia is being made into a live-action movie.
Yes, Chernabog (my favorite Disney character) will apparently be brought to life.
Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama will write the script and be executive producers on the film.
“Night On Bald Mountain” centers around Chernabog, a dark-winged demon who raises spirits from the dead. The spirits then fly around, dance, and enjoy the mayhem of the night until the morning light of the sun starts to rise.
During their night of fun and mischief, the grand finale of Fantasia is set to “Night On Bald Mountain” by composer Modest Mussorgsky. As the sun rises, Franz Schubert’s “Ave Maria” clears the sky of evil.
The film is in the very early developmental stages, and there is no director yet attached to “Night On Bald Mountain.”
This is just the next live-action film for Disney which has included or will include Cinderella, Maleficent, Alice In Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Winnie the Pooh, and more.
