Early 2016 Refurbishments Announced For All Three Magic Kingdom Mountains

All three mountains at Magic Kingdom will undergo refurbishments in 2016, and at least, two of the three aren’t that long.

First of all, Splash Mountain is going to have its annual refurbishment beginning on Jan. 6, 2016, and running through Jan. 11, 2016. It is tentatively scheduled to reopen to Guests on Jan. 12, 2016.

Now, please remember that the last few years…Splash Mountain has been down for one, two or even three months during its refurbishment. The short week-long refurb for 2016 is kind of shocking so it wouldn’t surprise me if it is extended.

Next up, Space Mountain will undergo a short refurbishment in January as well. It is scheduled to be down from Jan. 11 – 15, 2016. It is tentatively scheduled to reopen to Guests on Jan. 16, 2016.

Finally, Big Thunder Mountain will be down for refurbishment later in early 2016, but it’s going to be for a bit longer.

Thunder Mountain will be under refurbishment from April 4 through July 15, 2016. It is tentatively scheduled to reopen to Guests on July 17, 2016. There’s no word on what is being done, but that’s quite a long refurb.

Hmmmm…could it get some of the high-tech advancements that Thunder Mountain out in Disneyland got?

Please note that dates are subject to change and can without any notice. These dates are officially listed on Walt Disney World’s refurbishment schedule, but that does not mean they can’t possibly change.
