At the D23 Expo this past weekend, one of the biggest announcements was that Toy Story Land would be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios along with Star Wars Land. A lot of rumors are flying around so let’s take a look at what is confirmed and known for Toy Story Land so far.
Some things are confirmed and have been reported by the Disney Parks Blog and were announced at D23. That’s not to say that things can’t change, but this is what has at least been announced by Disney.
- Toy Story Land will encompass 11 acres.
- There will be a Slinky Dog roller coaster which is said to be family friendly. Think Seven Dwarfs Mine Train with lots of great special effects for the train itself and the whole attraction.
- There will be a Green Aliens saucers attraction which will bring the “Ooooooos” and the ahhs and THE CLAW! Guests will be taken for a spin in their own saucer, but need to beware The Claw.
- Toy Story Mania is getting a third track which will expand the attraction for more Guests in less time. This was confirmed back in March of this year.
- Different characters from the Toy Story franchise will be made available for meet-and-greets.
Here are some unknown things and others that are being rumored and talked about around the Internet, but not yet announced or confirmed by Disney:
- There has been no further mention of additional attraction closings such as One Man’s Dream, Voyage of The Little Mermaid, and the like. Yes, they could happen in the future, but NOTHING is confirmed on this.
- Toy Story Land will encompass down Pixar Place and takeover the old Studio Backlot Tour location as well as High Octane Refreshments Studio Catering Co., and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set.
- Pizza Planet will be relocated.
- The opening date will coincide with the release of Toy Story 4 in summer of 2017.
Please know that this second bullet list (right above) is rumored and are just theories going around. Even if something is confirmed by Cast Members or others at DHS or WDW, it isn’t officially confirmed until Disney higher-ups gives the true public announcement.
Either way…in my eyes? Toy Story Land is going to be awesome and my prediction that Cars land would not be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios did indeed come true.
