In August of last year, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad appeared on the official Walt Disney World refurbishment schedule for 2016, but was quickly removed. Since then, many have wondered if it would truly happen, and now it seems…it is.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is back on the schedule and will be down for around three months.
As of now, Thunder Mountain will be closed for refurbishment as of April 4, 2016, and that means that its last day of operation will be April 3, 2016.
The attraction is tentatively scheduled to reopen to Guests sometime in July of 2016. An exact date has not yet been revealed as to when it will actually reopen.
Some are beginning to wonder if the Thunder Mountain version in Walt Disney World will be upgraded as the version in Disneyland recently was. New special effects and sounds were added in, and let me tell you, it’s quite amazing.
Please note that dates are subject to change and can without any notice. These dates are officially listed on Walt Disney World’s refurbishment schedule, but that does not mean they can’t possibly change.
