Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade Is Set To End At Magic Kingdom – Final Run Date Known

The rumors have been floating around for about a week or so now, but it has been confirmed that Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade will soon be ending its run at Magic Kingdom.

Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade ending

Word has gotten out and Disney has now publicly confirmed that Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade will come to an end at Magic Kingdom in less than two months. The final step off at Magic Kingdom for the longtime night parade is Oct. 9, 2016.

This is one of the longest running parades around the world and it has been back in Magic Kingdom since June of 2010.

Cast Members did receive confirmation this evening that the Electrical Parade will end its run in October and it will head to Disneyland for a short amount of time in early 2017.

It also isn’t known what will be replacing the Electrical Parade even though there have been rumors of “Paint the Night” coming over from Disneyland since its final run will be on Sept. 5, 2016. There have also been rumors that it will be tweaked and changed a little before returning to run at Disneyland again.

UPDATE 9:15 p.m. ET: The Disney Parks Blog has posted another article stating that “Paint the Night” will be returning on select nights during the holiday season later this year…so, doesn’t look like it is coming to Walt Disney World anytime soon.

A lot of people have also been asking if SpectroMagic will return….well, it was officially retired in 2013, so that isn’t likely. If this parade were to make a comeback, it would pretty much have to be rebuilt from scratch.

  1. We have enjoyed the electrical parade. I think it should stay.

  2. Rose Mercado says

Oh no I loved it as a kid please don’t get rid of it I would love for my kids and grandkids to see it

  3. Michelle Prenger says

We will be at WDW the last week of January–would love to get to see Paint the Night–hmmmm???

  4. It’s a great parade. While I love it, I know I’ll love what comes next too. I remember the switch over of the day parade from Celebrate a Dream Come True parade a couple years ago. My kids had grown up with that parade. But we love the Festival of Fantasy parade too.

  5. It’s absolutely ridiculous to end this parade. This is a family tradition and never grows old. I worked at Disney in 2000 and even on my days off I would come to the park just to watch this parade. It encompasses what Disney is to so many people. Yes, I understand that there are a slew more princesses not featured in the parade but that’s what the afternoon parade and the other parks are for. There’s something about tradition and apparently Disney has completely forgone this and it’s about PR. A parade is not going to change that. Spectromagic was a joke. It couldn’t even compare and neither can paint the night. Great parades but again, nothing says Disney like ELP. The other parades just left me and others with a “ok, so now what” feeling afterwards. I don’t care what analytics say, this parade, no matter how old you are reminds you to remember the magic and to believe. Just like the Hall of Presidents and Small World–It belongs as a permanent staple and main attraction. It rests during the holidays.

    • I couldn’t have said it better!!!!!! My feelings exactly!!!!

    • I agree! I didn’t think there could be anything more devastating than Osborne Family Lights leaving, I was wrong 🙁

  6. Nooooo the electrical parade is an amazing parade
