Word has gotten out that Shark Reef will be closing permanently after the park ends its operating hours on Oct. 2, 2016.

As of Oct. 3, 2016, Shark Reef will be closed.

The snorkeling attraction allows Guests to swim with sharks and other kinds of sea life in a very up-close manner. There is an area in a sunken ship that allows for underwater viewing if someone chooses not to take part in the Shark Reef fun entirely.

Typhoon Lagoon is making way for a new family raft ride called Miss Fortune Falls that is set to open sometime in 2017.

Disney has not yet given a public and official confirmation of this closure of Shark Reef, so anything is possible to change. Still, don’t be surprised when it happens and try to get in one last swim before its gone.
