Walt Disney World Discontinues Night Of Joy After 35 Years

After three-and-a-half decades of having some of the best Christian bands head to Walt Disney World and perform concerts for thousands of guests…Night of Joy has come to an end.

Typically, the dates for the next Night of Joy are announced in the latter part of the previous year, but 2018’s dates never arrived. As guests continued to wait for the two days of fun to be revealed, they began worrying that they would never come.

Well, their suspicions were correct as a Walt Disney World spokeswoman confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel that 2017 was the last time that Night of Joy would take place.

“Last year was our last event.

As of now, there are no plans to bring Night of Joy back at any point as Disney said they are working on “continually changing their offerings.”

For the majority of its 35-year run at Walt Disney World, the two-night event was held in Magic Kingdom. It did take place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios twice and has moved to the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex for the last two years.

In 2017, it was limited to one night due to Hurricane Irma.

MercyMe and numerous others have performed at Night of Joy, but it now seems as if that is a lost Walt Disney World event.

    Dear Disney,
You have made a huge mistake in canceling the “Night of Joy”
annual concert event. You have a very large base of customers
that will feel very unappreciated and insulted by this exclusion,
myself and many friends included. I strongly recommend that you
    reconsider this very poor decision.
    Respectfully,
    Pamela Bond

So disappointing. N.O.J. was a great event.
