There are not many of the original attractions which are still at Universal Studios Florida since its opening back in 1990. E.T. Adventure is one of them and it is still quite popular with a lot of people…including one college student who just rode is 56 times in one day.
John Porto has always loved the E.T. Adventure and he continues to enjoy riding the somewhat out-of-date attraction, but who doesn’t? If you don’t, we can’t be friends.
On July 20, 2018, Porto went over to Universal Studios Florida and hopped into the line for E.T. Adventure and rode it the first time. For the next eight-ish hours, he rode it another almost five dozen times and finished with a self-professed record of 56 times.
Universal Orlando did not confirm that the 19-year-old had broken any kind of record, but the Miami Dade College student had fun and enjoyed showing his love for the attraction.
“Fifty-six times in one day. I challenge anybody to beat that.”
Porto said he never once got bored while riding E.T. Adventure 56 times in one day and the team members even cheered him on throughout his journey. Eating Reese’s Pieces throughout the day, Porto was often brought through a special entrance by Team Members and not always forced to wait in the queue.
“I don’t think anybody is going to be touching this record for a very, very long time. Fifty-six is a hard record to beat.”
E.T. Adventure is one of those old attractions which many feel will be replaced at some point, but maybe not.
Steven Spielberg signed an agreement many years ago that gave him the power of exclusive creative consultant for Universal. Rumors has it that he won’t ever allow E.T. Adventure to be replaced or closed as long as his deal is in place or that hell would have to freeze over for the original to be shut down.
