At this weekend’s D23 Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse event, there were a lot of exciting things announced, but there can always be more. On Sunday, new concept art was revealed for Disney’s Riviera Resort along with when the proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property is set to open.
Located near Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the property is set to open sometime in fall of 2019. It’s going to be quite busy at the end of next year at Walt Disney World, but that also means it will be quite awesome too.
This resort inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along Europe’s Mediterranean coastline will offer beautiful views of fireworks spectaculars and easy access to the Disney Skyliner which is set to open around the same time.

In 1935, not long after Mickey Mouse was born, Walt took a break from the production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Walt & Lillian and Roy & Edna Disney took an extended grand tour of Europe that would have an impact on Disney storytelling for decades to come. With its castles and colorful, fairy-tale villages, Walt fell in love with Europe – the art, the architecture, the food, and, of course, the stories.
