The Walt Disney Company is going all in on their new streaming service called Disney+ which is set to debut sometime this year. As that time draws near, a lot of promotion will be coming out and one is a brand new Pixar short called Purl which tells a great message but is very different.
The new short is part of the SparkShorts program which is an experimental storytelling program which will bring about some brand new projects. New artists, directors, and others from Pixar’s staff will showcase their talents for the entire world to see and it’s such a great idea.
“The SparkShorts program is designed to discover new storytellers, explore new storytelling techniques, and experiment with new production workflows,” said Jim Morris, president of Pixar Animation Studios. “These films are unlike anything we’ve ever done at Pixar, providing an opportunity to unlock the potential of individual artists and their inventive filmmaking approaches on a smaller scale than our normal fare.”
Now, everyone knows that Disney and Pixar films are for everyone of any age, but sometimes, that is not remembered. Just a heads-up that Purl does include a couple of jokes which are more adult-oriented and some adult language too.
No, it’s nothing over-the-top or anything like that, but some may want to watch Purl once before allowing the kids to see it. Hopefully, it will be approved as the message delivered by Purl is quite awesome.
As the weeks go on, fans will be able to see two other new shorts which debuted in January of 2019 when they hit the Pixar channel on YouTube. Be on the lookout for Smash and Grab as well as Kitbull (February 18, 2019).
Those two shorts along with Purl will also be available on the Disney+ streaming service which starts later in 2019.
