Disney Announces A New Play Pavilion Will Take Over Wonders Of Life

At the D23 Expo back in summer of 2017, we learned that Epcot would be getting some love at Walt Disney World, and it’s still happening. On Thursday morning, Disney announced plans for another way to “wow” guests with big changes at the Wonders of Life pavilion which will become the “Play Pavilion.”

A brand new “Play Pavilion” is taking over the Wonders of Life which sits between Universe of Energy/Guardians of the Galaxy and Mission: Space. The building will be devoted to “playful fun and feature an innovative city that’ll come to life under the dome” of the yet-to-be-named pavilion.

Disney characters, hands-on activities, and interactive experiences will fill the “Play Pavilion” as guests enjoy a whole new way of life at Epcot.

“This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot,” said Zach Riddley, portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”

No word yet on when everything will officially begin, but we do know that it will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World which is in 2021.
