A couple of weeks ago, we learned the opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. With Disneyland Park getting it first and reservations (more on that below) initially needed to enter the land, guests have booked up every single room on property.
There are still more than two months to go until the opening of Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland on May 31, 2019. It has been just two weeks since the opening date was announced, and all three hotels at the Disneyland Resort have sold out entirely for the night before the grand opening.
There is not a single room to be found at any level at the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Yes, every single view, every single club-level, and every single suite is sold out on May 30, 2019.
Paradise Pier is also totally booked up for the night of May 31, 2019.
While it’s not totally unexpected, the fact that there will be a reservation system in place to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in place is a huge reason that this has happened.
Between the grand opening on May 31 and June 23, guests visiting Disneyland will need a valid park admission ticket as well as a reservation made in advance to enter Galaxy’s Edge. As previously reported, the reservation system will only be temporary, but if you don’t have one, you won’t be able to enter the land.
Disneyland has not yet said how or when the reservations will be made, but each registered guest staying at the three Disneyland Resort hotels will receive one reservation. Those will be automatically given to those guests.
Walt Disney World’s version of Galaxy’s Edge will open on August 29, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Like many others…we purchased annual passes for WDW even though we lived in Illinois!
My first visit was in the late 50’s . Our family did the drive out from Illinois to California “adventure “, camping along the way. Three of us kids rode in the back seat…oh, that middle of the seat was torture! Someone should make a movie about that…oh, wait! It’s already been done!
