Those looking to see Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first can do that by going to the Disneyland Resort for its opening on May 31, 2019. As we’ve previously reported, there will be a reservation system in place for the first few weeks of its opening, and with that, there will not be a standby land entrance in place for anyone else during that time.
For those who have a Disneyland Resort reservation at one of the three on-property hotels from May 31 to June 23, you will automatically receive a reservation to enter Galaxy’s Edge. Disneyland will also have a system in place for other guests to sign up for one, but full details of it have not yet been announced.
If you aren’t staying at a DL Resort hotel and don’t end up getting one of the reservations for that time period, you will not be allowed into Galaxy’s Edge. On top of that, Cast Members will not even allow you to line-up in a standby queue to get into the land.
Many will remember Pandora and Toy Story Land having a standby line to enter the land, but from May 31 to June 23, 2019, it won’t be that way for Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.
Disneyland Vice President Kris Theiler:
“There will be no standby access to the land and we want to make sure that that’s clear for guests. We don’t want guests coming to the park thinking, ‘I don’t have a reservation. Maybe I’ll just get in the queue and I’ll be able to get in.’ We’re not going to have a standby line. So it will be limited solely to those guests that have reservations.”
So, if you don’t have a reservation in place to enter Galaxy’s Edge, you will not be able to enter the land from the dates of May 31 to June 23. You’d have to wait until after those dates or unless you can luck into getting a reservation.
Again, you will not be allowed to line up as there will be no standby queue to wait for land entry.
As for the reservation system, Disney is still working out that whole thing and looking to organize the system before announcing full details. Theiler commented on it as well and revealed that those with reservations will be given a set amount of time in Galaxy’s Edge, but that is still being worked out too.
“We will be giving guests a window of time, but we’re still working through what that looks like and the duration for that. We’ll be working hard to ensure that guests have enough time in the land to see all the great things and experience the attraction. We know guests might want to stay in there all day, but we’ve got a whole big group that wants to get in there. We’re just trying to balance all those things and really deliver the right solution for our guests.”
Oh, and if you’re hoping to get a reservation at one of the three hotels of the Disneyland Resort for the night before opening, you’re out of luck as they are totally sold out.
As of now, there is still no word on how entry into Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will work when it opens on August 29, 2019.
