Back in July, it was reported that a number of locations at Epcot would be closing as the transformation of the park continued. At the D23 Expo last month, additional details were revealed and now, the closures have officially started as big changes are on the way.
There were a lot of new details revealed at the D23 Expo, and you can see much more about Epcot’s transformation at this link. In regard to what is actually happening at the park, though, a lot transpired this weekend that has some guests rather sad and heartbroken.
Here is an update on all of the closures and changes that have now gone into effect at Epcot:
- Epcot Character Spot – Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy have moved across the hall to Character Spot North where Baymax, Joy, and Sadness are also located
- Club Cool – Closed
- Fountain of Nations – No longer in operation
- Fountain View Starbucks – Closed
- Innoventions West rest area/hallway – Closed
Construction walls and hedge separations have now gone up around the Fountain of Nations, Starbucks, and other locations.
A temporary Starbucks location is expected to be set up and opening soon at Epcot. Club Cool may reopen somewhere in Epcot in the future, but that still remains to be seen.
For now, Mickey and the gang will remain in Character Spot North, but they will eventually move to other permanent locations in Epcot.
The Art of Disney was supposed to close this weekend as well, but it did not as of yet. It is still scheduled to close sometime this fall with the artwork moving to the America pavilion. The same can be said for Pin Central as it did not close as of yet, but it will sometime this fall.
