Marvel And Sony Make Nice – Studios Will Work Together On Third ‘Spider-Man’ Movie

Just a little over a month ago, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios parted ways in their agreement on Spider-Man, and the former said the door had been closed. Well, it appears as if the door wasn’t locked as the two have made nice and will work together on a third film for the web-slinger.

On Friday, Sony and Marvel Studios announced together that there will be a third film in the Spider-Man franchise starring Tom Holland. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will produce the movie and all seems well at this time on the chaotic front.

The split happened when Disney reportedly wanted a 50/50 split on the Spider-Man box office with Feige staying in the spot of producer. Sony turned that down and said they wanted to keep things as they were with Marvel Studios receiving around five percent of first-dollar gross and all sales of merchandise.

Marvel and Disney will now receive 25 percent of the profits.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” said Feige in a statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Nothing much is known about the third film in the series, but it will hit theaters on July 16, 2021. As part of the continuing agreement, Spider-Man will also appear in a future film from Marvel Studios.
