Walt Disney World Will No Longer Allow Bell Service Drop-Offs For Deliveries, Guests Must Be Present

A major change is coming to Walt Disney World Resort hotels in the very near future, and it will affect a lot of guests. No longer will bell services at the resort hotels accept deliveries from third party vendors for STROLLER and ECVs, but guests will need to be present to accept them directly.

UPDATE #2

A few stroller vendors have revealed that Disney has contacted them and advised them that this new policy will go into place on November 2, 2019. It was originally scheduled to begin on October 1, but has since been pushed back for unknown reasons.

There has been an update as Garden Grocer has revealed that their delivery services will not be affected by this change. Grocery deliveries are not going to be affected by this new rule coming next week.

Beginning on October 1, 2019, if guests are going to have anything delivered to their resorts by third-party vendors, they will need to find the time to meet the vendor. Guests will need to meet the vendors for acceptance of delivery and for the return of the delivery if it is a rented item such as a stroller, wheelchair, or ECV.

This does indeed mean that pre-arrival drop-off of items and post-departure pick-up of items is no longer permitted. Bell services will no longer hold items for this reason.

There was a change a while back in which there would be a small fee applied for any packages or items handled by bell services and the front desk. Now, that will not be the case as bell services will not accept the items at all.

Until Disney officially makes this change on their website, anything is possible to change or be altered. Either way, guests should expect and prepare for this change coming on October 1, 2019.

  1. Marvin courtney says

Whoever is making the decisions at Disney has lost their mind. We usually go to Disney World once a year. We are raising 3 grandchildren. It now cost us over eight thousand dollars for a week with park hopper and meal plan. Now they want money to park. Now I can’t have a excuse waiting at my hotel. When you can buy a nice used car for the price of a week at Disney it has gone to far. I think we have been to Disney our last time. Universal studios is looking better. The bad part is we pun stock in Disney.

  2. I understand it can cost them money to have CM at the Bell Services. I would gladly pay the price to Disney to have my scooter delivered to them and picked up when I leave. It is an impossibility for me to walk from the resort to the bus, from the bus to security, from security to stroller/wheelchair/EVC within the park. Even if I drive, I understand I must wait for them to hand deliver the key. Then I must go inside to register at the resort since I need the scooter to walk. I put this in line when they made the front desk both check-in/concierge and got rid of concierge. How am I also, if I do not rent from a third party, walk to the bus and so forth. How about parents who carry sleeping infants/child home at night. Children are dead weight when they sleep. This whole idea is not catering to their consumer. The bottom line is that they are looking to either save money or cut jobs.

  3. This is not a good thing or a nice thing for Disney to do. My husband requires the use of a scooter and this will truly be an inconvenience. I don’t understand this change in policy for things like scooters which are a necessity.

  4. Disney is taking so much of the magic away. I just read they will no longer offer the $200 on board credit for placing your next cruise reservation while on the ship. Now I read this and see that my husband will not be able to rent his EVC from a company we have been using for years. They are so reliable and will come out whenever you have a problem….at no extra charge.
My family and I will be looking at other vacation spots for next year!
