Whether you love or hate the franchise, there is no mistaking the fact that National Treasure has a cult following. Now, after more than 12 years since the sequel hit theaters, it appears as if the repeatedly rumored third film has a screenwriter and may finally happen.
With the release of Bad Boys for Life in theaters this weekend, it has already been reported that Bad Boys 4 could be in the works. What does this have to do with National Treasure 3? Well, plenty.
According to THR, screenwriter Chris Bremner is tapped to write the script for Bad Boys 4, but the report states he may be really busy for a while. THR states that Bremner is also attached to write the script for National Treasure 3 for Disney and that could keep him working a lot in the next few years.
There have been many reports and rumors regarding National Treasure 3 over the years, and it was even said that Disney wasn’t overly interested in doing it. That feeling appears to have changed now, though, as a screenwriter is attached to the project and it may finally happen.
