As the coronavirus outbreak continues to bring a lot of change to people around the world, SeaWorld Entertainment is no different. On Friday, it was announced that the company is going to temporarily furlough more than 90 percent of its employees without compensation.
Beginning April 1, 2020, the employees will be temporarily furlough without pay. Those employees are going to then be eligible to file for unemployment benefits.
There has been no exact word on just how long SeaWorld will remain closed, but other theme parks have recently extended their closures. Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are closed through April 19, while Walt Disney World and Disneyland are closed until further notice.
“The furlough period is uncertain at this time due to the temporary park closures and will be reassessed as business conditions dictate,” a statement from the company said. “The Company looks forward to welcoming back its ambassadors and guests when it is safe to open again.”
During the closure of the SeaWorld Entertainment locations, the animal care experts will continue looking after the well-being of the animals in the parks.
