Shanghai Disneyland Reopening Next Week – Temperature Screening, Reservation-Only Limited Capacity

The coronavirus pandemic has caused the closure of Disney Parks around the world, but things are about to change. On May 11, 2020, Shanghai Disneyland is going to reopen its gates with new orders in place as to how things will be run.

Shanghai Disneyland will be opening with a phased approach that will limit attendance into the park. An advanced reservation and entry system will be in place with guests needing to make “prior appointments” to enter.

This will limit the number of guests in the park and allow for social distancing measures to remain in place. There have not been exact details as to how the process will work for making reservations.

Shanghai Disneyland will also keep the government’s required health and prevention procedures in place. That includes the use of face masks as well as temperature screenings for entering the park.

  • No meet and greets.
    • ”Beloved Disney characters will appear in the park in a new way, as they make appearances in each of the themed lands, greeting and welcoming everyone back to Shanghai Disneyland. Close interaction and close-up photos with characters will be suspended during the initial phase of reopening.”
  • Theaters closed.
  • No parades.
  • No fireworks.
  • Ticket sales must be booked online in advance for a specific date with a limited number of tickets available for each day during this initial opening.
  • AP holders must also make a reservation for a specific date.
  • Guests must have temperature check, sign up for QR health code, provide government ID at turnstile, and wear face mask the entire time except when dining.
