On Monday, May 11, 2020, Shanghai Disneyland reopened after a long closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. As of this time in the United States, the park has already closed after its first day back, and it’s great to see some awesome photos and videos from all the magic.
While there is currently a travel ban on many countries, it isn’t as if we could be over in Shanghai Disneyland for the reopening. That is unfortunate, but we were able to watch everything unfold online with all of the new restrictions and guidelines in place.
TDR Explorer couldn’t be there either, but they did have a friend available to go for the first day, and others were there as well. You’ll be able to see in the following photos and videos just how things are being done with:
- Social distancing in queues
- Character interactions
- Parades
- Limited capacity
- Sanitation and the wearing of masks
This walkthrough of the queue for Pirates of the Caribbean is a great look at how social distancing is being done. While there are not a lot of guests in line, you can see the markers on the railings and the ground for where guests are allowed to stand if there were more people in line.
About an hour after park opening, the wait times were very low at Shanghai Disneyland. All of these attractions usually have much longer waits almost immediately upon park opening.
Pay close attention to the following videos as you’ll see just how Cast Members are making sure guests stay their distance from characters.
There is still no word on when the other Disney Parks around the world are going to reopen. Walt Disney World and Disneyland are both still closed “until further notice,” but perhaps the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland could be very telling in changing that.
It is possible that some of these same restrictions and guidelines will be felt at all other parks, but that remains to be seen.
Make sure to get in touch with My Mickey Vacation Travel so they can give you even more details and take all the stress out of planning to create the magic for you.
They will make sure to connect all the dots and get everything in order for your next Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or any Disney Destination vacation while saving you time, stress, and money.
