Now, the vote will go to the NBA Players Association which will have a call on Friday to approve the plans.

NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said that this partnership between the league and Walt Disney World works out best for all involved.

“The NBA, in conjunction with the National Basketball Players Association, is engaged in exploratory conversations with The Walt Disney Company about restarting the 2019-20 NBA season in late July at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida as a single site for an NBA campus for games, practices and housing,” Bass said. “Our priority continues to be the health and safety of all involved, and we are working with public health experts and government officials on a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that appropriate medical protocols and protections are in place.”

According to reports, the NBA will return to play on July 31, 2020, with 22 teams. That number includes 16 teams which were already in position for a playoff spot and six more who were within six games of the final spots.

Full details regarding how play will go down is still yet to be revealed, but the NBA is ready to move ahead. Over the last couple of days, reports have stated that the players and staff will be housed at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
