Disney is indeed moving forward with a reboot of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, and this isn’t about that film. Margot Robbie has been tapped to take a leading role, but it’s in an entirely different movie than those showcasing Captain Jack.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie will star in a new Pirates movie. Christina Hodson is taking the helm to write the script for the yet unnamed Pirates film.
This is not going to be the planned reboot of the franchise nor a spinoff to the Captain Jack series. This is going to be an entirely new story with Robbie taking over the lead role.
Details on the movie are yet known, but longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer will be onboard to produce.
