Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mulan has been delayed on numerous occasions. It was scheduled to be released in theaters on multiple occasions, but recently, it was delayed indefinitely.

On Tuesday, Bob Chapek announced that Mulan will be released on Disney+ on September 4, 2020. It is going to be released to subscribers on a premier access basis of $29.99 in the United States.

UPDATE: Disney has now confirmed that this is not a rental, but it will be a one-time purchase of the film. After purchasing Mulan for $29.99, subscribers to Disney+ will have continued access to it.

Mulan will also be released in theaters, where available, in places where Disney+ is not available. Chapek did say it will be released on the same date.

It was announced that this release with Mulan would be a “one-off,” and that it would not yet be a new trend with movie releases.
