The Play! Pavilion is currently being built at EPCOT and scheduled to open sometime next year, but what will be in it? While there are not a ton of details out so far, we have now found out that a new monorail attraction of some kind will be inside.
If you look at the concept art above, you can see a monorail coming out of a station just right of center. This has been in the PLAY! Pavilion concept art since the beginning, but no-one really knew what it could mean.
The upcoming book called “The Disney Monorail: Imagineering a Highway in the Sky” looks into the vast history of the famous transportation. On the final page of the book, there is a preview for the “Monorail Mark X” attraction and it has the icon of the PLAY! Pavilion included with it.
Imaginerding on YouTube detailed the info and gave a look at the page. It also states that the Monorail Mark X will be “arriving at EPCOT in 2021.”
Old-school fans know that the PLAY! Pavilion was formerly the Wonders of Life building. It housed numerous festivals over the years, and it was even home to attractions such as Body Wars, Cranium Command, and others in the past.
Disney is still aiming for an opening date sometime in 2021 for the PLAY! Pavilion, but it is not known if that is still on track with the temporary closures earlier this year.
