TRON At Magic Kingdom And Journey Of Water Inspired By Moana At EPCOT Attractions Reportedly Delayed

The temporary park closures due to COVID-19 have cause a lot of issues and some unexpected delays. Now, it appears as if two key attractions originally set to open at Walt Disney World in 2021 may not become a reality until next year.

Speaking on 2020 and the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World coming up in 2021, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, revealed quite a bit of information.

D’Amaro spoke on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure which is set to open at EPCOT sometime in 2021. The France pavilion will also open a new dining location called La Crêperie de Paris.

When the subject of TRON Lightcycle/Run was brought up, the article from USA Today did not seem overly confident that it would open this year.

“The coaster isn’t expected to open during the park’s 50th birthday year.”

Now, it’s not known if that means it won’t open in 2021 or if it won’t open for the entirety of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. If the latter is the case, that would mean TRON wouldn’t see a completion date and opening until sometime after October 1, 2022.

Hopefully, more concrete information will come from Disney soon.

We do know that there have been delays with a number of projects due to COVID-19, and one at EPCOT is another. In the USA Today piece, numerous plans at EPCOT are discussed and one appears set to be at least a year away.

“Among other Epcot plans:  Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, which will probably open after 2021. The walk-through trail will be filled with interactive water effects and displays.”

Again, this is not set in stone information as to when TRON or Journey of Water will open at Walt Disney World. Still, this info is coming from the USA Today as they conducted an interview with Josh D’Amaro.
