Disney Springs is going to have a new ice cream parlor/shop next year, and it will be in the form of…Slat & Straw!
On Sunday afternoon, Salt & Straw dropped a hint as to something big coming.
On Monday, the tease was revealed and it was confirmed that a new Salt & Straw location would be built at Disney Springs. An exact opening date is not yet known, but it will debut sometime in 2022.
“It’s a dream come true for our little Portland, Oregon ice cream company to have the opportunity to expand our relationship with Disney and open at Disney Springs next year,” said CEO and co-founder Kim Malek. “We love to use ice cream to remix flavors you already know and love while exploring food trends, social issues, and small, local makers. It’s so exciting to bring our unique combination of comfort and adventure to the big stage at Disney World.”
The building will be designed by Osmose Design, overseen by Andee Hess who has worked on all 26 Salt & Straw locations. “As huge Walt Disney World fans,” said Hess, “we were inspired to go really big with an exterior facade that screams ice cream and makes sure we show the world how excited Salt & Straw is to be here. The results will be an epically inviting and tantalizing exciting shop that evokes crafted deliciousness.
Salt & Straw opened a location in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort in 2018. The very popular location has proven successful enough to add some magic on the east coast as well.
