Disney Cruise Line was set to run a test sailing on the Disney Dream out of Port Canaveral at the end of June, but it ended up being delayed. Now, they are going full-steam ahead with another test sailing and it is going to happen on Saturday, July 17, 2021.
This test cruise is their attempt to get ships back into U.S. waters in agreement with the rules of the CDC. On Saturday, this test cruise will be the first simulated cruise out of Port Canaveral, and experts believe others will follow suit shortly afterward.
Carnival Cruise Line has the Mardi Gras sailing out of the port on July 31, 2021, and it will have paying passengers on board.
Disney Cruise Line will run this test sailing with Cast Members who are able to board between 9:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. on Saturday.
The simulation cruise at the end of June on the Disney Dream was delayed due to what was called “inconsistent COVID-19 test results.” After that, there had been no word on any kind of other test sailings until now.
Right now, the Disney Magic is running “Staycation” sailings in the United Kingdom, where guests stay on board and don’t debark at any ports. The first Disney Dream sailing out of the United States is still scheduled for August 9, 2021, out of Port Canaveral.
After this simulation cruise concludes, it will say a lot as to how things may go once sailing resumes. It will likely also let guests know just when DCL intends to get back into the water.
