‘Beauty And The Beast’ Prequel Series Not Happening On Disney Plus

Just as things were about to get started on the backstory of Gaston and LeFou, they have already come to an end. Disney+ is no longer moving forward with the original series showcasing a prequel to the live-action Beauty and the Beast.

This new series was set to begin filming this summer for an eight-episode run, but that is no longer happening. Deadline is reporting that the decision has been made not to move forward with the series for “creative reasons.”

Add in a number of delays with the original music and scripts for the show, and things just aren’t going to work.

Just a few days ago, Rita Ora was announced for a role in the Beauty and the Beast prequel.

The series was going to be set “well before” the events of the live-action movie which was released in 2017. It was going to follow the adventures of Gaston and LeFou (Josh Gad and Luke Evans) as a surprising revelation led them to Tilly, LeFou’s stepsister.

Both Gad and Evans confirmed the news on Twitter.

While it is possible that the series could happen in the future, it seems as if all is shelved for now.
