Disney Looking At Starting New Amazon Prime-Style Membership Program With Perks

The Walt Disney Company appears to be looking at expanding into the way of home delivery and member perks. According to a new report, they are in the early stages of developing a program similar to that of Amazon Prime.

According to WSJ, the program – tentatively called Disney Prime – could offer discounts and perks to guests. Some of those perks could come with a monthly/yearly membership fee and include theme park tickets, merchandise, discounts, and subscriptions to Disney+.

Disney has confirmed that they are looking into the possibility of developing this new program. They want to make it clear that this would not be the same membership program as D23.

Kristina Schake is Disney’s Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer. She not only states that Disney CEO Bob Chapek is in favor of this program, but that it’s not the only idea being tossed around.

“Technology is giving us new ways to customize and personalize the consumer experience so that we are delivering entertainment, experiences, and products that are most relevant to each of our guests. A membership program is just one of the exciting ideas that is being explored.”

Again, this is something that is still in the very early stages, and that means there are no further details or possible launch date.
