Walt Disney World Quick-Service Dining Locations Starting To Remove Plastic Lids From Drinks

In the past week, we’ve let you know that table-service locations in Walt Disney World were making plastic straws available only upon request. This is being done in an effort to be more environmentally friendly as major amounts of plastic are being phased out at Disney Parks across the world.

Well, it is happening a bit quicker than anyone may have imagined as quick-service locations are not only losing the straws but the plastic drink lids as well.

In the last couple of days, quick-service dining locations in Magic Kingdom have completely done away with the plastic lids on all drinks. So far, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe have done away with them, but more are sure to come soon.

While these locations are still offering paper-wrapped plastic straws, it is expected that those will be gone soon as well. They will eventually be replaced with paper straws much in the same way that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has used for many years.

Pecos Bill and Cosmic Ray’s did both state that plastic lids are available for the kid-sized cups, but only upon request. Even those are expected to go away entirely soon too except in instances of medical need, but that remains to be seen.

Plastic lids and straws are already a thing of the past in many locations around Walt Disney World. Spills and mishaps may be up for a while, but for the sake of the environment, don’t expect this to be a temporary change.
