With the Disney Parks recently announcing their temporary closures would continue “until further notice,” some more bad news has come about. It has now been announced that numerous Cast Members will be temporarily furloughed beginning on April 19, 2020.
On April 19, all United States-based Cast Members and employees in non-essential positions will be furloughed. This is all due to the temporary closures of the parks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A letter was sent out to Cast Members with details on the temporary layoffs coming to U.S.-based executives, salaried, and non-union hourly Cast Members of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.
Disney is going to maintain the health and insurance benefits coverage during this time. The furloughs to Cast Members are being considered “short-term.”
