Everyone kind of thought it was coming, but it has now been confirmed that the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the opening of a brand new land. Marvel’s Avengers Campus was set to open in mid-July of this year, the construction being put on hold has caused its debut to be pushed back.
Just one month ago, we finally received word that Avengers Campus had an exact opening date of July 18, 2020. No longer were we looking forward to merely “summer 2020” at the Disneyland Resort, but we had an exact moment we would be able to swing with Spider-Man.
Now, that has been put on hold for a while. The official Disneyland website has now changed to say “Coming Soon” wherever Avengers Campus is mentioned. The confirmed date of July 18, 2020, is nowhere to be found.
With the Disney Parks still closed “until further notice” due to COVID-19, all construction projects have been put on hold. Disney wants to put the safety of its employees as a top priority, and therefore, it appears they have chosen to delay projects rather than try to open them on time.
Here’s hoping things return to somewhat normal soon and that we get a new opening date for Avengers Campus before too long.
