A number of changes have come about at Walt Disney World over the last month, and now, there is another. EPCOT has brought back some of the old rope drop procedures that were in place before the closures brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the morning of Tuesday, June 8, 2021, guests were allowed into EPCOT beginning at 10:00 A.M. for a scheduled 11:00 A.M. opening. Guests were not allowed to go past the underside of Spaceship Earth and held up by ropes and stanchions.
At 10:20 A.M., Cast Members allowed guests to go further into the park and wherever they wished.
Since the Walt Disney World theme parks reopened in July of last year, they have been opening early to all guests. The early openings were anywhere from five minutes early to a full hour, but they allowed guests access to the entire park.
The return of some rope drop procedures at EPCOT will likely branch out to the other parks soon. This could finally lead to the debut of “Early Theme Park Entry,” which will be for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests and was said to be introduced at some point this year.
