Earlier this year, we reported that a National Treasure series was given the green light for Disney+. Now, we are one step closer to the treasure, everyone, as Disney has cast Lisette Alexis in the lead role.
The National Treasure series will be executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, director Jon Turteltaub, and writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley. It is an expansion of the franchise which has spawned two films and is rumored to have a third coming at some point in the future.
The series will be told from the point of view of a young heroine who will be played by Alexis. She is a DREAMer in search of answers about her family, and it takes her on a wild adventure to uncover the truth, the past, and save a lost Pan-American treasure.
With Alexis’ character taking over the lead role, it is not yet known if Nicolas Cage’s “Benjamin Gates” will make an appearance.
