Walt Disney World Resort recently announced they were going to be closed “until further notice” due to the coronavirus outbreak. Along with this new revelation, they have also now revealed that new reservations are only allowed to be made starting on June 1, 2020.
Late on Saturday evening, Disney announced a new Free Dining promotion for guests who have had trips affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The discount starts its travel dates on June 1, 2020, and Disney also quietly added in something else regarding that very date.
Even though there is no definitive reopening date, WDW did add this information regarding new reservations to its website late on Saturday, March 28, 2020:
Walt Disney World theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, and the Disney Springs area are currently closed and a reopening date has not been identified. For Guests who are interested in modifying their existing travel dates or making a new reservation for a future vacation, reservations are currently available for travel dates June 1 and later. As always, Guests are able to modify these bookings if Walt Disney World Resort opens before or after that time.
This information had been assumed but was not made official by Disney until late on the evening of Saturday.
This does not say that Walt Disney World definitely won’t open until June 1. It simply states that Disney is no longer allowing new resort reservations to be made for April or May, and guests also cannot modify current reservations to move their travel dates into April or May.
A little poking around also shows that new dining reservations cannot be made in April or May either. Disney has not officially said anything about that and it could be a glitch, but the only reservation we could find at any point in April or May is for Ravello at the Four Seasons.
If a reopening date for the Disney Parks is revealed, it could come before or after June 1, 2020. Once it does, we will be sure to bring it to you all.
